Kayla: DGP’s March Dog of the Month

Meet Kayla, the newest member of the DGP Dog of the Month family. Life hasn’t always been a walk in the park for this giant schnauzer. At five and a half years old she has spent more time in high kill shelters than out of them.

In 2015 Kayla was classified as an unadoptable pup due to her behavior. She seemed to be at the end of her leash until Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue learned about Kayla’s predicament. The charity rescued Kayla and placed her in foster care. Her foster family fell in love with her despite her behavioral problems and gave her a forever home. With the proper training, patience, and love, Kayla has become an amazing pet and part of the family.

This loving canine can usually be found cuddling with her people. When she isn’t relaxing with her pet family she can be found enjoying a car ride or swimming. Whether she is chasing squirrels or shadows, Kayla always has a big smile on her face. As an energetic canine, her pet family can’t get her to stop moving.

However, Kayla’s life hasn’t been easy since she found her forever home. Her front leg was amputated in August, but she has been recovering well since the surgery. With three legs instead of four, joint health is that much more important for Kayla. That is why her pet parents have added DGP to her daily routine. Kayla’s pet family is happy that DGP has been able to help give her the support she needs to enjoy the activities she loves.
