February 2020 Dog of the Month: Logan
We’re pleased to introduce our February 2020 Dog of the Month, Logan. Logan is more officially known as CLARK’S LOGAN, UD, BN, GO, VER, RE, OJP, OAP, THDD, CGCA, SW1.
Adopted from the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County at 4 months, Logan was a happy, friendly puppy who immediately showed a desire and capacity for training. A German Shepherd mix, in the past, his abilities would have gone no further than the park where he practiced. But with the AKC Canine Partners program, his owner was able to obtain an AKC number and enter him in obedience trials.
Now 10 years old, Logan has a long list of titles and accomplishments in AKC Obedience, Rally, and Agility, and Canine Scent work. But with all those achievements, Logan shines most in his natural ability as a therapy dog. He loves everyone, and people soon learn to trade their apprehension at the big black dog approaching them, for the kisses and attention he gives. At 10, he continues to be an amazing dog, he recently earned an Advanced Scent Work title. Last fall Logan was selected for a small part in a TV series, where he plays a veteran’s service dog. The actor who played his owner is Steve Mendillo.
He is calm and gentle, and the people in the places he visits with his owner look forward to seeing him. To date he has earned the AKC Therapy Dog Advanced and Excellent Titles and Therapy Dog International’s TDIAOV, TDIEVA awards, and we are proud to say that he has recently been awarded AKC’s Therapy Dog Distinguished award for completion of 400 visits. His owner could not have asked for more in a dog to share life with!
