Elder Paws Senior Dog Rescue began with Cathie Garnier’s vision to help senior dogs in overcrowded kill shelters. Elder Paws’ mission is to reduce the euthanasia rate of dogs age 7 and up in these shelters because every dog deserves to live out his or her life in happiness.
Many families will shy away from adopting older dogs, but Elder Paws wants everyone to know the value, loyalty, and friendship that can be found in any pup, regardless of age. Older dogs make especially great pets for senior citizens and those looking for low maintenance dogs since they are generally calm, not as active, and are typically trained.
Acting as a foster home for senior dogs, Elder Paws provides its dogs with proper veterinary care to ensure a healthy, quality life. The organization places senior dogs in loving foster homes with families who will give them devoted care and attention.
Elder Paws is funded completely by donations and works to share its mission that all dogs matter, regardless of age! Elder Paws educates the community through events and community outreach efforts to show how to properly care for senior dogs and how senior dogs can be the best companions.
